It’s one of the most important events of the year and oh hey, it’s a luncheon.

No worries about the start of Passover, or making it to your Friday night poker game (You know who you are).

When you have a dais full of news anchors, there’s one thing we can promise you: the Fair Media Council’s Folio Awards Luncheon needs to end by 2 p.m.-ish — otherwise, there may be no evening newscasts.

The only real question is: Have you gotten your ticket yet?

It’s a veritable who’s who in New York metro media and Long Island business expected to be in attendance at the Island’s biggest media event, the Fair Media Council’s Folio Awards from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22, where a record crowd is expected to be on-hand to congratulate the best in news.

The judges represent the ultimate critic: The public. The Folio Awards program is a highly visible way to provide feedback to our local newsrooms on how well they are covering the communities, and what the public wants to see, hear and read in its news. The judges perform a great public service by sacrificing hundreds of hours to review hundreds of entries into the Folio Awards program. But only the best walk away with a Folio.

Sponsored by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Northwell Health, WeiserMazars LLP, Briarcliffe College, Hofstra University, NYIT, South Nassau Communities Hospital, YMCA of Long Island, PSEG Long Island, Protiviti, Murphy, Bartol & O’Brien, FOX5/my 9 news, WCBS/WLNY, NBC4, Epoch 5 Public Relations, Vision Long Island, Big Daddy Golf Classic, Live It Up! with Donna Drake, and more, as things are just now heating up.
