Renowned television news anchor and correspondent, radio host, and best selling author Rita Cosby will receive the Fair Media Council’s Outstanding Public Service Award at FMC’s annual Folio Awards luncheon, which attracts a powerhouse crowd of business and community leaders to network and congratulate the best in news and social media from the greater New York area.
Long Island’s own American Idol, Robbie Rosen — fresh from a sell-out concert at Westbury Music Fair — is scheduled to perform.
Guests at the luncheon will receive First Amendment ribbons.
The luncheon will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at NYIT’s de Seversky Mansion, the fabled Gold Coast estate that was home to businessman, inventor and philanthropist Alfred I. du Pont.
Emmy-winning TV host, veteran correspondent and multiple best selling author, Rita Cosby anchored highly rated primetime shows on Fox News Channel and MSNBC. She is now a special correspondent for the top-rated CBS syndicated newsmagazine, Inside Edition, does frequent hosting and reporting for CNN/HLN, and hosts “The Rita Cosby Show” on the legendary WABC Radio. “Rita Cosby’s impressive career achievements, combined with her advocacy to help others, especially veterans, makes her a worthy recipient of the Fair Media Council’s Outstanding Public Service Award,” said Jaci Clement, CEO and Executive Director of the Fair Media Council.
Tim Scheld, News & Programming Director of WCBS Newsradio 880, will make the award presentation to Cosby.
FOX 5 anchor team Steve Lacy and Dari Alexander, WPIX’s Sukanya Krishnan and Scott Stanford and NBC New York’s Michael Gargiulo and Lauren Scala will serve as Folio Award presenters.
The Folio Awards program honors news and social media that is important to the community, protects quality of life standards and provides the information needed for social change and progress to take place.
