What happened to ‘As Local As Local News Gets’?

After cutting 600 jobs by closing a call center in Shelton, Conn., Altice now is closing News12 Connecticut – relocating it to New Jersey and reducing staff in the process.

For its part, Connecticut was largely complacent in the takeover of Cablevision by Altice – unlike here in New York, where we screamed bloody murder, resulting in a myriad of conditions attached to the sale, so what’s happening in Connecticut doesn’t happen here — at least for the next few years.

Watch your bill closely, folks. Altice-owned Suddenlink now adds a $1 billing fee for paper statements.
