The end of this month marks the end of the line for VHS, which ceases production of its videotapes — something kids today have no idea what to do with, anyway. Birthed in 1976, VHS’s death was wildly exaggerated in 2000, when the DVD debuted. What a long, strange funeral it’s been.

The Line Forms a Gauche

Locally, LIBN’s Claude Solnik reports Altice has been busy firing and hiring at the company formerly known as Cablevision, to the tune of about 100 or so workers.
Across the pond, Altice’s flagship SFR is plotting serious bloodshed, with about one-third of its staff set to be gone by 2019. Those 5,000 people are in addition the more than 1,000 who have left since Altice acquired SFR.
