In an exclusive conversation with Mashable on July 15 as part of the Fair Media Council’s Summer Social Media Boot Camp, we hold the conversation on everyone’s minds right now: Following the live streaming of a man’s death on Facebook, has social media gone too far?
The conversation with Mashable Chief Correspondent Lance Ulanoff and Fair Media Council CEO Jaci Clement will delve into the topics driving today’s public conversation — mass shootings, gun violence, politics — and offer insight into how decisions are made in covering breaking and developing news stories and whether unfiltered postings and graphic videos on social media channels are responsible for the numbing down of America.

“We’ll be taking the audience inside Mashable, in particular, to shed light on how hot button issues are covered and subjected to the editing process,” said FMC’s Jaci Clement. “There’s a real question in everyone’s minds right now as to whether or not social media has gone too far in allowing disturbing content to be streamed live and unfiltered.”
The conversation is part of the Fair Media Council’s Summer Social Media Boot Camp on July 15, 2016. It will be held at South Nassau Communities Hospital Conference Center in Oceanside, Long Island. Tickets are available here.
