Get a load of this: Long Island now has its own, official, undisputed cupcake collection.
Here’s some fun news happening right here: Local Long Island online bakery Sweet Epiphany has unveiled four of six of its Long Island-specific cupcakes, each with a personality that celebrates the best of Long Island. The star of the show, however, is Hamptons Gold, a champagne cake topped with 24K gold. Then there’s the Long Islander, a locally roasted coffee infused chocolate cake that is poised to become an iconic Long Sweet, as it incorporates two of Long Islanders’ favorite, bordering on addiction-driven, flavors.
To create the Long Island collection, Sweet Epiphany capitalized on strengths it developed since hanging up its virtual shingle in 2012: Using locally sourced, organic ingredients and exclusive, propriety extracts that highlight Long Island’s notable food and beverage trade.
Soon to be introduced will be the official North Fork and Montauk cupcakes. They’ll join Hamptons Gold and the Long Islander, along with the Ocean Bay — a cupcake inspired by the south shore drink favorite, the Rocket Fuel — and the Fire Island, a rainbow-cookie type treat.
The Long Island Cupcake Collection is definitely designed for grownups, so expect a children’s line of cakes to be on its way, dubbed Enchanted Kids’ Cupcakes, as well as what Sweet Epiphany is calling Pawfection Cakes — which are, you guessed it, intended to commemorate those special moments in the fur babies’ life — a hot and growing trend.
