Meet Craig Allen April 24 at FMC Folio Awards

Meteorologist Craig Allen, head of WCBS 880’s weather team, will be among the many notable news personalities at the Fair Media Council’s Folio Awards on Friday, April 24 at Crest Hollow Country Club on Long Island, N.Y.

FMC’s Folio Awards is the biggest media event on Long Island, attracting more than 600 media, business and community leaders to recognize the best in local news and social media.

Allen earned his meteorology degree from the Earth & Space Sciences Department at Stony Brook University in May of 1979 and became chief meteorologist for WCBS 880 the following Spring.

At age 12, he lugged a chalkboard to the kitchen table each night and pretended to be a TV weatherman, delivering a forecast to his family while they ate dinner. Today, audiences hear his radio reports on 880 every weekday morning from 5 am to 10 am; evenings from 4 pm to 8 pm.

FMC Folio Awards are made possible thanks to the support of major sponsors Briarcliffe College, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, North Shore-LIJ Health System, WeiserMazars LLP, Protiviti, Hofstra University and the law firm of Murphy Bartol & O’Brien.

Founded in 1979, FMC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that advocates for quality news as vital to the health and well being of the community. The Folio Awards are judged by the public, making the award among the highest of honors in news and social media.
