Learn, ask questions & network in a relaxed atmosphere and a casual dress code. Return to the office armed with new information, tips and advice to advance your media relations, social media and marketing efforts. Earn 4.0 credits for “Communications Practitioner” Certificate. It happens Friday, July 26, 2019, 7.30 am – 12 noon, South Nassau Communities Hospital Conference Center, Oceanside, N.Y.

Boot Camp takes place in the Conference Center of South Nassau Communities Hospital. Use the Main Entrance. The Conference Center will be to the right.

MEDIA FORECAST: A new era in media is emerging – one where audiences gravitate toward having a more direct relationship, vs an intermediated one, with certain creators that speak to them. This will create news rainforests that will flourish, but it also creates news deserts where it will not. The Edelman Media Forecast is a new research initiative that covers these trends in depth. Steve will explain how this transition is playing out and what it means for marketing communications as well as audience development strategies.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & NEWS ANALYSIS: How can we quantitatively measure the quality of news and media sources?  We are working to answer this question with big data techniques and artificial intelligence algorithms.  Our MediaRank project ( analyzes over 50,000 online news sources, computing several objective metrics of quality to differentiate among them.   Our analysis shows how news is consumed and comprehended by individuals and groups on social media.
