Recognizing the best in news and social media as chosen by the ultimate critic: the media-savvy consumer, the Fair Media Council’s annual Folio Awards is now accepting entries.
All entries are due by midnight, Jan. 28, 2019 via the Fair Media Council’s online-only entry system.
News outlets and freelancers are eligible to enter the news categories, while media, nonprofits and businesses may enter the social media categories.
In the news categories, judges are looking for excellent reporting, exceptional storytelling and, if possible, demonstrated public service impact of the story. Local, regional and national news stories are eligible for entry.
In the social media categories, FMC seeks exceptional social media campaigns from media, nonprofits and businesses to be considered for Folio Awards. Campaigns may not be strictly promotional in nature; instead, they must contain an element of public awareness or service, in addition to possessing clear-cut purpose, demonstrable goals and quantified results.
Adjudicating the Folio Awards process is a wide variety of community leaders, former journalists and academics. While the judges expect a high standard of professionalism from entries, they seek stories and social campaigns that serve the public interest, convenience and necessity.
The Folio Awards are a signature event of the Fair Media Council, a nonprofit organization founded in 1979.
