Biographical Info

Long Island Girl Talk is a nonprofit organization that encourages adolescent girls, ages 10-18, from the Freeport, Hempstead, Roosevelt and Uniondale, Long Island School Districts to enter the media, either as employees or independent producers, by training them to create a television series.

Participants learn how to research, write, film, edit, cast, direct and star in their own TV show, which airs on the LIGT YouTube Channel and Verizon Public Access Cable, about issues relevant to women and girls who live on Long Island.

By learning to create their own broadcast material, whether or not girls pursue jobs in the media, they are empowered to create their own media which allows them to be proactive in promoting positive representations of themselves and their marginalized communities.
