Biographical Info

As vice president of public relations, Barbara Osborn oversees communications for Northwell Health, including the health system’s 22 hospitals and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. In this role, she manages media relations, thought leadership and strategic communications.

Ms. Osborn’s expertise was spotlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she connected national and local media with Northwell’s clinical and non-clinical leaders to provide an inside look into the crisis. Northwell treated more coronavirus patients than any other health care provider in the US.

A seasoned PR professional, Ms. Osborn assumed her leadership role in January 2020 after leading public relations at Lenox Hill Hospital for 18 years. She joined Lenox Hill as media relations manager, advancing into numerous roles with progressive responsibilities, including assistant vice president of regional public relations for the health system’s Western Region, which includes Manhattan, Staten Island and Westchester. As AVP, she directed the public relations team, managing media relations, crisis communications and content development. She also led communications strategy for large systemwide initiatives such as The Fin, Northwell’s innovative amphibious prosthetic, and the new Netflix docuseries, “Lenox Hill,” which chronicles the daily life of four Manhattan-based clinicians.

Prior to Northwell, Ms. Osborn served as director of public relations for John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, which is now a part of Northwell Health. She began her career as a journalist in the news departments of both Fox News Channel and News 12 Long Island.

Ms. Osborn has a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism from Stony Brook University.
