Open to businesses and media in the New York metro area. Agencies may submit work on behalf of clients. (Client, not agency, will be recognized if deemed a winner.) All entries must contain elements of news or information important to a community or target audience. Campaigns may include use of social networking sites, web sites, blog sites, podcasts, email and online advertising. Entries purely promotional in nature will be disqualified. Up to two entries per category by a single entity allowed.

SM9. Buzz Worthy Award: Best use of social media to up the momentum of getting a message into the hands of a target audience
SM10. Community Service Award: For the best Blog site or Web site devoted to issues of interest to a particular community
SM11. e-Philanthropist Award: Best online fundraising campaign that raised in excess of $10,000
SM12. Micro-Philanthropist Award: Best grassroots online fundraising campaign.
SM13. TweetUp for A Cause Award: Best virtual campaign to bring the community together to support a cause
SM14. Global Village Award: Best use of social media to reach diverse communities
SM15. Rising Star Award: Best use of social media by a company long on mission and short on cash.
SM16. Wordsmith Award: Best column by a citizen journalist (News professionals enter in the newspaper/magazine category)
SM17. Shutterbug Award: Best blog or website devoted to chronicling local news.
SM18. Yes, There’s An App for That: Best app created by a local business.
SM19. Brand Builder: Best use of social media to introduce a new brand to the community.
