Award Deadline June 29 for 4th-6th Grade Teachers

If you are a 4th-6th grade teacher using news in the classroom, then you’re eligible to enter FMC’s Media Savvy Teacher Award Program.  The deadline is June 29, 2012 and entry forms are downloadable at fairmediacouncil.org.

“There are many ways to incorporate news into classroom learning,” said FMC Executive Director Jaci Clement.  “And the benefits are endless.  Consuming news encourages deductive reasoning, critical thinking skills and teaches students to look at the world from different perspectives.”

Past FMC Media Savvy Teacher Award winners include 5th grade teacher Suzanne Story of Longwood Middle School and 4th grade teacher Evan Curran of the Laddie Decker School.

The Fair Media Council (FMC) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that educates businesses, nonprofits and the public to become media savvy.  FMC also advocates for quality local news coverage and has about 200 New York Metro area businesses and nonprofits as members.

Teachers can find the entry form at fairmediacouncil.org.  For more information call     1.855.432.4763, ext. 703. or 1.516.224.1860, ext. 703, or email info@fairmediacouncil.org.
