FMC Action Results In Changes At 98.3

Following the FMC filing of an FCC complaint against Connoisseur Media Long Island radio station K-98.3 (formerly KJOY), the station’s program director has been replaced. FMC’s action was in response to a hoax the radio station aired in February, which went viral and negatively portrayed Long Island in media throughout the country.

“The Fair Media Council, its board of directors and its members will not stand by and watch a local, over-the-air broadcaster unfairly marginalize any segment of this community, in particular, and compromise the image of Long Island, as a whole,” said FMC Executive Director, Jaci Clement. Prior to FMC involvement, the morning show hosts were suspended for one week. ”FMC will continue to closely monitor the station’s work, as well as that of all broadcasters and other media in our market,” said Clement.
